【Position Summary】
We are now seeking Head of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Office.
The main responsibilities include
-Ensuring adherence to Chinese EHS laws (national and provincial), including Hainan-specific regulations
-Developing and updating university-wide EHS policies, procedures, and emergency response plans (incl. Lab safety)
(1) Public Health Management
-Identifying health risks (e.g., accidents, injuries) and implement controls (e.g., PPE, protocols)
-Establishing infectious disease surveillance, vaccination programs, mental health support
-Monitoring food safety, water quality, and indoor air (third-party testing)
-Optimizing classroom and office lighting/acoustics to prevent health impairments
-Maintaining medical supplies on campus
(2) Safety Management
-Lab safety: Conducting regular inspections of lab safety based on university-wide EHS Policies
-Public security: Managing the authorization of university security system data viewing
-Conducting safety assessments for university events and provide security support for large gatherings
(3) Training and Awareness
-Designing and organize EHS training programs for staff, students, researchers etc.
-Releasing EHS tips and safety risk pre-warnings regularly
(4) Audits, Budget & Government Relations
-Liaising with government authorities and coordinate tasks assigned by them
-Performing regular EHS audits and inspections; prepare reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies
-Overseeing EHS budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions for safety and sustainability
【Qualifications】
Required Education
-Bachelor’s Degree or above in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering or related fields
Required Experience
-5-8 years in EHS management, preferably in education, research, or large institutions
Preferred Experience and Skills
-A person of honesty and integrity who demands navigating complexity, fostering innovation, and maintaining unwavering dedication to serving the university community
-Excellent organizational and management skills, adept at multi-tasking and problem solving
-Strong cross-cultural communication skills
-Familiar with the policy of Hainan Free Trade Port and relevant EHS laws and regulations
-Proficient in the use of various office software and data analysis tools
-Proficient in business oral communication and writing in both English and Chinese
-Knowledge of international EHS frameworks (e.g., ISO 45001) is preferred
-National Certified Safety Engineer is preferred
