一、崗位職責(zé)：

利用不同復(fù)雜度的模型，研究厄爾尼諾多樣性和復(fù)雜性的成因。

分析模型輸出和觀測數(shù)據(jù)，以檢驗(yàn)假設(shè)并改進(jìn)模型結(jié)構(gòu)。

根據(jù)需要，參與新概念模型和動力學(xué)模型的開發(fā)。

與氣候系統(tǒng)動力學(xué)研究組的其他成員密切合作。

在科學(xué)會議上展示研究成果，并在同行評審期刊上發(fā)表論文。

二、崗位要求：

大氣科學(xué)、海洋學(xué)、氣候動力學(xué)、應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)、物理學(xué)或相關(guān)領(lǐng)域博士學(xué)位。

扎實(shí)的動力系統(tǒng)、數(shù)學(xué)建模和氣候變率方面的背景知識。

具備數(shù)值建模和數(shù)據(jù)分析經(jīng)驗(yàn)。

能夠獨(dú)立開展研究工作，同時具備良好的團(tuán)隊(duì)合作精神。

出色的書面與口頭溝通能力。

三、優(yōu)先考慮條件：

有與厄爾尼諾–南方濤動（ENSO）或熱帶氣候變率相關(guān)的研究經(jīng)驗(yàn)。

熟悉理想化氣候模型和綜合氣候模型。

熟悉分析非線性系統(tǒng)和復(fù)雜系統(tǒng)的基本方法與工具。

關(guān)于氣候系統(tǒng)動力學(xué)研究組：氣候系統(tǒng)動力學(xué)研究組由孫德征教授領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，致力于理解和預(yù)測地球氣候系統(tǒng)的動態(tài)狀態(tài)，尤其關(guān)注在人為強(qiáng)迫下氣候系統(tǒng)的穩(wěn)定性與變率。目前的研究問題包括：在未來人為強(qiáng)迫下，厄爾尼諾是否會變得更加頻繁和強(qiáng)烈，以及地球氣候系統(tǒng)是否存在類似金星式的失控不穩(wěn)定風(fēng)險(xiǎn)。除了推動對地球氣候動力學(xué)的理解，研究組還力圖將氣候系統(tǒng)研究中獲得的洞見應(yīng)用于其他對人類生存與繁榮至關(guān)重要的復(fù)雜系統(tǒng)的理解與預(yù)測。

Research Scientist – Climate System Dynamics Group

The Climate System Dynamics Group, led by Professor De-Zheng Sun at Nanjing University, invites applications for a full-time, permanent Research Scientist position. The successful candidate will work on advancing our understanding of the complexity of El Ni?o and contribute to improving its prediction.

This position is part of the Research Scientist career track at Nanjing University. The successful applicant will enjoy full Research Scientist benefits provided by the university.

Responsibilities:

·         Conduct research using models of varying complexity to explore the causes of El   Ni?o diversity and complexity.

·         Analyze model outputs and observational data to test hypotheses and refine model   structures.

·         Contribute to the development of new conceptual and dynamical models as needed.

·         Collaborate closely with other members of the Climate System Dynamics Group.

·         Present research findings at scientific meetings and publish results in   peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications:

·         Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences, oceanography, climate dynamics, applied mathematics, physics, or a closely related field.

·         Strong background in dynamical systems, mathematical modeling, and climate variability.

·         Experience with numerical modeling and data analysis.

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Prior research experience related to El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) or tropical climate variability.

·         Familiarity with both idealized and comprehensive climate models.

·         Familiarity with basic methods and tools for analyzing nonlinear and complex systems.

About the Climate System Dynamics Group:

The Climate System Dynamics Group, led by Dr. De-Zheng Sun, focuses on understanding and predicting the dynamic state of the Earth's climate system, particularly its stability and variability under anthropogenic forcing. Current research questions include whether El Ni?o will become more frequent and stronger in response to anthropogenic forcing, and whether the Earth's entire climate system could undergo a Venus-style runaway instability. In addition to advancing knowledge of Earth's climate dynamics, the group seeks to apply insights from climate system research to improve the understanding and prediction of other complex systems vital to the survival and flourishing of humanity.
